We are still experiencing tremendous growth as word of the program spreads to every corner of North Brooklyn and Western Queens. The GWYSL, counting the Winter and Summer programs, provides the thrill of soccer to more than 500 kids (not to mention a fierce parents-only pickup game on Friday evenings!) in this neighborhood. Our Extra Play program offers kids who want more soccer the chance to play against other Leagues in the City. We have also established a scholarship program that offers reduced rate fees for families that qualify. We are always looking for new players, volunteers and sponsors - contact us:

Our affiliation with AYSO
gives us a national base of support, insurance coverage and volunteer training but we feel that the most important aspect of AYSO is the five-point philosophy that all the programs are based upon:

1. Everyone Plays (every child plays at least half of every game)

2. Balanced Teams (skill levels are evaluated to make the most balanced teams)

3. Open Registration (everyone within the age range can apply)

4. Positive Coaching (positive reinforcement always)

5. Good Sportsmanship (respect for teammates, opponents, coaches and referees)

including an indoor Winter League and a Summer Soccer Clinic, is open to all boys and girls ages 4 to 14. It’s the result of the work of dedicated parent volunteers who, with the guidance and support of the American Youth Soccer Organization, created the Greenpoint / Williamsburg Youth Soccer League, a new region in the national network of AYSO leagues.

We are proud of our efforts and excited to bring this wonderful opportunity to the families in our neighborhood. The American Youth Soccer Organization was established in 1964 and with over 650,00 kids playing and 250,000 volunteers, it’s probably the biggest soccer organization in the country.

Our first two years were a tremendous success. The GWYSL, counting the Winter and Summer programs, has already provided the thrill of soccer to more than 450 kids (not to mention a fierce parents-only pickup game on Friday evenings!) in this neighborhood. We have also established a scholarship program that offers reduced rate fees for families that qualify.
