THE
GREENPPOINT WILLIAMSBURG YOUTH SOCCER LEAGUE INTRODUCES
KIDS ZONE:
|
|
The
Greenpoint Williamsburg Youth Soccer League
|
has
now implemented the KIDS ZONE program with the support of
the
American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO).
In recent months, the national media has focused on the negative,
even violent behavior of players, coaches and parents involved in
youth sports. In order to counteract this negative trend, the Greenpoint
Williamsburg Youth Soccer League in partnership with AYSO
has initiated a program called KIDS ZONE.
As a part of AYSO's educational agenda, KIDS ZONE
is a dynamic program designed to eliminate negative sideline behavior.
Our goal is to produce a thoroughly positive impact on every participant
in the Greenpoint Williamsburg Youth Soccer League.

| Below
are the three of the essentials we are using to insure that
KIDS ZONE is a success: |
1.
The KIDS ZONE Button - A pin will bearing the program's
logo will be worn by all program supporters at games serving as a
reminder of our commitment to positive sideline behavior.
2.
The KIDS ZONE Sign - A large sign listing the standards
of behavior will be posted at the entrance to participating fields.
All those who wish to abide by the KIDS ZONE standards are welcome
- all others are not.
3.
The KIDS ZONE Pledge - We request AYSO parents to sign
a pledge that holds them to the KIDS ZONE standards. The Greenpoint
Williamsburg Youth Soccer League (GWYSL) is a non-profit, A.Y.S.O.
(American Youth Soccer Organization) affiliated, volunteer-run
organization dedicated to creating a safe, fun and positive soccer
experience to kids in our community.

Our
five guiding principles are:
|
1.
Everyone Plays (every child plays at least half of every game)
2. Balanced Teams (the goal is
to make teams as evenly matched as possible)
3. Open
Registration (everyone within the age range can apply)
4.
Positive Coaching (positive reinforcement always - from parents and
players, too)
5.
Good Sportsmanship (respect for teammates, opponents, coaches and
referees)
